Prayer Requests for Lay Apostle Events

As lay apostles, we know that it takes courage and dedication to go into the world and draw people back to the family of God. Please pray for all your fellow lay apostles who are serving in this way, especially those mentioned below. By praying for those who are spreading the good news, you are supporting this mission in a very powerful way.

Dear Fellow Apostles, 
 
The Sacred Heart Family Conference, scheduled for August 23 - 26, 2007 in Liverpool, NY (Syracuse) is in dire need of your prayers. This conference is being sponsored by the Sacred Heart Apostolate of the Syracuse Diocese to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Sacred Heart Enthronement in the Home. I can assure you the enemy has not been idle in regard to this event, which is evident from unforeseen and unusual big problems. This put the planning progress on "stop" for weeks, which delayed printing, advertising, and other preparations, long enough to knock the work schedule right off the mark. Still the committee has stayed the course and is working overtime to try to make up for the delay. Nevertheless the conference will only succeed with a multitude of prayers and hopefully a minor miracle. I say minor as compared to all miracles, but actually everyone here is thinking major miracle. 
 
While the conference is not specifically a DFOT event, it all boils down to the same things, namely love of God and neighbor. It just has a different approach. So, my dear friends, please by your prayers and sacrifices, help this one-time very special event to honor the Sacred Heart of Jesus and assist families to seek Him and live according to His laws of love. Thank you, and may Jesus reward you abundantly.

Dear Direction for Our Times:

We have a very small group of Lay Apostles in Red River, which is located in the Sangre de Cristo (Blood of Christ) Mountains of northeast New Mexico. Our little resort town of 450 full time residents sustains itself through tourism and hosts different events throughout the year. One of these is a motorcycle rally over Memorial Day and the town swells to 10 - 15 thousand people during that time.

Last year, with the help of a few area Catholics, we sat in Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament at our log cabin church, St. Edwin's, to promote Unity amongst the bikers. This year, in addition, we are feeling called to host a booth to distribute complimentary religious materials and Direction for Our Times booklets and accept prayer petitions for intercession by those sitting with Jesus.

We are so few in number but know that God will work powerfully, on this Pentecost weekend, if we have the prayers and sacrifices of the many Lay Apostles. We ask for prayers for volunteers to accomplish this project, for all who will be traveling and in the town this weekend, and for an abundant outpouring of the Holy Spirit, especially on those who will receive the Direction for Our Times booklets.

Our special intercessors are St. Michael and St. Bede (whose day is May 25 and was from the same area and time as St. Edwin who is the patron of our town church) and all the angels and saints. As always we will also be praying to St. Edwin, Our Blessed Mother, St. Joseph and the Trinity.
