Anne received the following 5 guidelines from our Lord:

As Lay Apostles of Jesus Christ the Returning King, we agree to perform our basic obligations as practicing Catholics. Additionally, we will adopt the following spiritual practices, as best we can:

1. Allegiance Prayer and Morning Offering, plus a brief prayer for the Holy Father
2. Eucharistic Adoration , one hour per week
3. Prayer Group Participation, monthly, at which we pray the Luminous Mysteries of the Holy Rosary and read the Monthly Message
4. Monthly Confession
5. Further, we will follow the example of Jesus Christ as set out in the Holy Scripture, treating all others with His patience and kindness

Allegiance Prayer

Dear God in Heaven, I pledge my allegiance to You. I give You my life, my work and my heart. In turn, give me the grace of obeying Your every direction to the fullest possible extent. Amen.

Morning Offering

Oh Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer You the prayers, works, joys and sufferings of this day for all the intentions of Your Sacred Heart, in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, in reparation for my sins, and for the intentions of the Holy Father. Amen.

Prayer for the Holy Father

Blessed Mother of Jesus, protect our Holy Father, Francis, and bless his intentions.

Five Luminous Mysteries

1. The Baptism of Jesus
2. The Wedding at Cana
3. The Proclamation of the Kingdom of God
4. The Transfiguration
5. The Institution of the Eucharist

One of the spiritual practices of this apostolate is participation in a monthly Lay Apostle Prayer Group, at which the Luminous Mysteries of the Rosary are prayed and the Monthly Message from Jesus is read. If you have searched the current lay apostle prayer group list and there is no group in your area, consider beginning your own.

1. Quite simply, prayer groups need to determine when they will meet, where they will meet, and who will be responsible for bringing the Monthly Message to the meeting.

2. If you already know people who have read the messages and are eager to join a group, all you need are a few guidelines to help you get organized. Prayer groups can be as small as two people and as large as your prayer space will hold. Groups can meet in the home of a lay apostle, or in any other convenient location, such as a church or an Adoration chapel.(If the latter is the case, make sure you receive permission from your pastor before you begin.)

3. If you do not know any lay apostles who wish to join a Lay Apostle Prayer Group, our staff may be able to help you by providing names and phone numbers of registered lay apostles who live in your area. Then you simply call the individuals, identify yourself as a fellow lay apostle who is interested in forming a prayer group in the area, and determine the best time and place to pray as a group. Please email us at contactus@directionforourtimes.org

4. Another idea is to place an invitation in your church bulletin, or place flyers in various places throughout your community. It is often surprising to discover that others have read the messages and want to participate in a group, but don’t feel comfortable organizing a group.

When your Lay Apostle Prayer Group meets, begin by welcoming all, being especially mindful of individuals you do not know personally and who may never have attended a prayer group before. Invariably, lay apostles will realize that the Lord has brought them together for a reason, and they will find fellowship and support by talking about their faith experiences.

5. After a brief settling, begin with an invitation to spend a moment in silence to allow the peace of Christ to settle into the hearts of all those present. Then, beginning with the Sign of the Cross, start the recitation of the Luminous Mysteries of the Rosary. After finishing the Rosary, whoever was designated to bring the Monthly Message should read the message to the group. Some groups like to share with each other one or more of the most significant aspects of the message.

6. That’s all you need to do! From beginning to end, the group will be together for about 1 hour.

7. If you wish, once you have established a Lay Apostle Prayer Group, please register your group with the Direction for Our Times office. This may help your prayer group grow.
